Half Guard Wrestle Up
Often it is common to get the underhook from half guard and wrestle up to the dog-fight position (where opponent has a strong whizzer) and get stuck. After working hard to get to a strong position, it can be demoralizing not being able to finish the sweep.
The alternative offered in this video never gets to the dog-fight position. When you wrestle up, you stay down on the leg with the underhook arm and use a unique finish that kills the whizzer.
This finish was developed from a slightly modified version of Rei Higuchi's single leg finish from the mat. Higuchi is an Olympic silver medalist and a world champion freestyle wrestler. John Smith (arguably the greatest wrestler ever in the United States) has been quoted saying Higuchi has the best single leg takedown in the world.
There are no shoes in jiu jitsu so it is important to secure the leg tightly (especially in NoGi) when executing this finish.
